deserts that exist in the low-income communities we serve. We envision this as a way to generate
unrestricted revenue for the agency and further expand our mission.

3 First and foremost, we would provide families who lack sufficient food with additional assistance. 8/16/2019 9:18 AM
This would also provide us with the opportunity to educate families about nutrition and
consumerism and making the most nutritious food choices with their available resources. We
would provide educational opportunities for children and families to learn how to grow their own
food at home. This would also be an opportunity to establish community gardens and grocery
ventures within the community that offer more nutritious food options.
4 If Alamance County Community Services Agency were to be provided additional resources we 8/15/2019 11:53 AM
could then provide emergency food on a much greater scale. We currently can only serve an
applicant/family one time per year due to lack of funds. This would greatly increase our reach to
the community that is in hunger and provide more information about our programs.
5 Build a community garden in each county. Increase the availability of fresh food by giving 8/15/2019 6:05 AM
vouchers to local farmers markets to low-income families. Help low-income families grow their own
fresh food by giving them vouchers for seeds, plants, etc.
6 I would set up food pantries at all MP sites and locations. I would also seek to incorporate fresh, 8/15/2019 3:52 AM
nutritious food verses processed. I would set up a delivery program for those without
transportation. We need to meet people where they are and stop expecting them to get to us.
7 Work with City leaders to establish grocery stores in areas where there are food deserts. Work to 8/14/2019 11:58 AM
establish more outlets designated as food pantries to include fresh fruit and vegetables. Create
more programs that teach healthy eating and informs participants on how to manage money
                   allotted for food.
8 Increase clients served at congregate mealsites and through Meals on Wheels. 8/14/2019 6:46 AM
