Appendix C: Passports
The Guilford County Register of Deeds serves as a processing unit for passport
applications. When a passport applicant enters the ROD office, the ROD Passports staff must be
cognizant of any issues that are present such as avoidance, inability to fully communicate, etc.
Any suspicious activity or inability to answer questions must be noted and passed on to the US
Department of State.
A mapping of the tasks within the Passports process has been completed as of July 2020.
The mapping reflects the key activities within the process and details the following: responsible
DRAFT
role, task description, guidelines, resources, and supporting roles. The mapping includes both
subprocesses: the application process and the postage reconciliation process. Each task is labeled
with a task icon including the supporting details of the tasks. The task IDs correspond to the IDs
labeled in the Passports process narrative above. Refer to the task legend below.
