Minister Dangui Oduber Leads

Successful Health and Wellness Expo 2023

ON Saturday morning, the Minister of Tourism
and Public Health, Mr. Dangui Oduber, along with

his colleagues Minister Tjon and Parliamentary
Member Tevreden, inaugurated another Health
Expo, this time with the theme “Promoting
Health and Physical Activity at Work,” held at the

Renaissance Convention Center.

The goal of this EXPO was to provide valu-
able information to the entire community on all

aspects of our health, raising awareness about
their well-being, preventing certain illnesses,
and thus leading a much healthier and longer life.
Over 35 organizations participated, sharing valu-

able information about health, physical activity,
and mental well-being.
Professionals provided insights on diabetes,
cardiovascular health, vision care, exercise, and

much more. Attendees had the opportunity to
undergo tests to learn about their cholesterol
levels, blood sugar, blood pressure, weight, and
BMI. The entire public health sector was present,

along with various departments and foundations.

Prevention is the primary focus of the Ministry of
Health’s approach to achieving a healthier, more

health-conscious community and improving
everyone’s quality of life. It’s essential to note that
this expo is part of the national plan to prevent
non-communicable chronic diseases (NCDs). In

this plan, the focus on health emphasizes preven-
tion through leading a more active and healthier
life, with access to various tools and tips to help
people achieve this. Aruba is among the few

countries worldwide with a national prevention
plan for these NCDs. The global goal is to reduce
the number of deaths related to NCDs by one-
third by 2030.

Finally, Minister Dangui Oduber expressed his
gratitude to everyone who visited the “Promoting
Health and Physical Activity at Work” expo. He

extended special thanks to the Health Platform
team, the Department of Public Health, the
Ministry of Tourism and Public Health, as well as
all the foundations and organizations that had

booths at the expo. They worked tirelessly and
put in immense effort to make this expo a reality.
