First copy of the 2016 Donkey Sanctuary
Aruba Calendar given to Nico van der Zee

EAGLE BEACH - In the company of visitors,
press, and of course, some donkeys, the
first copy of the traditional Donkey Calen-
dar was handed out. Desiree Eldering, on
behalf of the Donkey Sanctuary, present-
ed the 2016 calendar to Nico van der Zee,
a well-known writer for the Dutch News-
paper the Amigoe. In her speech Desiree
said the van der Zee regularly writes about
the Aruban Donkey Sanctuary in general
and especially the local donkeys. They
also talked about van der Zee’s daughter
Elise’s fundraising activities in the Nether-
lands during Christmas time for the Aruban
donkeys. The calendar is indeed a mas-
terpiece and presented with pride. Saskia
Aanhane designed a beautiful full color
calendar in A3 format and the beautiful
pictures are made by Luc Peek. We would
like to encourage everyone to buy one
of the beautiful calendars at Superfood
and, of course, at the Donkey Sanctuary
in Santa Lucia. A piece of Art for only Afl
25 or $14.50 with all proceeds going to the
care of the donkeys at the Sanctuary. We
