Provider Care Services
Physical Therapy
VNSNY physical therapists work to help patients recover
from a surgery, injury or hospitalization relating to a serious
illness so that the patient can become self-sufficient and
return to everyday life to the greatest extent possible. Our
therapists combine the most up-to-date technologies and
best-practice protocols with hands-on care to improve
patient safety, strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination.
Specifically, our physical therapists:
• Assess ROM and strength
• Assess safety and mobility equipment needs in the home
• Assess need for assistive devices
• Assess ability and instruct in transfers and gait training
• Create exercise programs for strengthening and
increased activity
• Teach energy conservation and pacing
• Instruct in safe mobility
• Conduct risk screenings and interventions for falls
• Improve balance and coordination training
• Educate caregivers on patient safety and assistive care
methods
VNSNY also offers an intensive rehabilitation program that
enables post-hospitalization joint replacement patients to
rehab safely at home in lieu of at a sub-acute nursing facility.
