Provider Care Services
Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy (OT)
provides vital care for everyday
functioning to help increase the
patient’s ability to meaningfully
participate in Activities of Daily
Living (ADLs) such as dressing,
feeding and bathing. This
interdisciplinary approach
restores overall function and
improves outcomes. Our occupational therapists:
• Help patients regain and adapt to their day-to-day routines
and activities
• Improve motor, visual, cognitive and perceptual skills so
that buttoning a shirt, putting on shoes or cutting food
becomes achievable
• Improve home safety with necessary modifications to
allow patients to function despite weakness, endurance
or vision deficits
• Speed recovery and improve outcomes after a surgery
or hospitalization through exercise, environmental
modifications, and/or wheelchair seating and
positioning program
Conditions where OT is beneficial include physical injury,
stroke, brain cancer, neurological conditions, diabetes,
arthritis and serious long-term illnesses.
