               a.    Match the medical vocabulary related to patient assessment with the correct definition. See

                     the example.


                 Auscultation                          A.  Listening to the internal sounds of the body, usually
                                                           with a stethoscope, to assess the heart, lungs, or blood
                 Bruit                                     vessels.
                                                       B.  A test for hydration status by pinching the skin to see
                 Clubbing                                  how quickly it returns to its normal position.
                                                       C.  Feeling body parts with the hands to assess
                 Crepitus                                  tenderness, swelling, or abnormalities.
                                                       D.  A visual examination of the body to check for
                 Inspection                                abnormalities, such as skin color or shape.
                                                       E.  A crackling or popping sound heard during movement,
                 Murmur                                    often in joints.
                                                       F.  Tapping on the body to assess the underlying structure,
                 Palpation                                 often to check for fluid buildup or air.
                                                       G.  A bluish or purple discoloration of the skin or

               b.    Fill in the blanks using the correct vocabulary from previous exercise. The words are related to



                     the specific physical assessment techniques. One vocabulary can be used more than once.


                Nurse Aisha     :  “Assalamu alaikum, Mr. Fahni. How are you feeling today?”
                Mr. Fahni       :  “Wa alaikum assalam, Nurse Aisha. I’ve been feeling pretty tired lately. I’m also a
                                  bit short of breath when I walk upstairs.”
                Nurse Aisha     :  “I see. Let’s start with some questions about your overall health. How would you
                                  describe your general health over the past few months?”
                Mr. Fahni       :  “I think it’s been declining. I get tired easily, and I haven’t been able to exercise as
                                  much as I used to.”
                Nurse Aisha     :  “Okay. I’ll perform a few assessments. Let me begin with an (1) ________ of your
                                   hands and fingers.” (Clue: visual examination of the body)
                                  (Performs assessment)
                Nurse Aisha     :  “Alhamdulillaahirobbil’alamiin. I don’t notice any (2) ________, which is good—it

                                  resting?” (Clue: condition of fingers due to low oxygen)
