The concept of Pieces of Me was developed in a graphic design class in college. For a project,
I decided to create a visual representation of my identity through the eyes of my friends and
family. I asked them to provide me with their individual perceptions, and in reviewing their
feedback, it was clear that certain personality traits were commonly used to describe me.
I created icons for each of these traits, arranged them in a pattern, and then displayed the
pattern on a dress for my project presentation entitled: Pieces of Me.

I will never forget the first time I saw the dress, covered in a pattern unique to my personality.
I was overcome by a sense of pride as I looked over the icons that represented the traits

people recognized and valued in me.

“I was infused with a sense of self-confidence

I’d never known as I embraced the visual

representation of my identity. It was a truly

            liberating experience.”

The self-worth and appreciation for my individuality that I felt that day, and every
day since, is why I started this brand. As women, we have a propensity to be our
worst critics. It is a tendency that is fueled by societal pressures and social media,
often clouding our ability to appreciate those qualities that make us unique. I want

my customers to not only embrace their own individuality but also to celebrate
the characteristics in others that make them one-of-a-kind, as well. My hope is
that our jewelry line empowers women to proudly claim those traits that make them
beautifully unique, and also encourages them to give voice to their appreciation of
the qualities that they value in others.
