one of the best concerts we’ve ever put on, in this beautiful
church in the Conwy Valley. We started with Junior Jazz Band
pumping out the classic ‘Don’t Mean a Thing’, and followed with
‘Voici La Nuit’ an arrangement of a medieval plainchant that
fitted perfectly into the surroundings of the church. Spirited
gospel and jazz songs followed by the Choir and Divas, before
Ruby and Jade entertained us with ‘Water Fountains’, a soulful
duet. Kiani showed her Ella Fitzgerald side with a smooth
rendition of ‘Autumn Leaves’, just right for a summer evening,
and the Choir and Senior Jazz Band rocked the church with
some more great Gospel and Jazz tunes. We finished with an
arrangement of ‘Go Tell it on the Mountain’, and we must have
done something right because there were cries for an encore!

This was, by popular acclaim, ‘Hey Soul Sister’ by Train and
nobody minded by then that we didn’t know all the words. A
great evening with lots of appreciative comments, my thanks
to the lot of you, you were all fab!
