And what a lovely evening we had for the Summer Concert. The
                                                                                                                                                                                       kids had relaxed at a BBQ at chez Wardies before performing
          onwards and upwards
                                                                                                                                                                                       one of the best concerts we’ve ever put on, in this beautiful
                                                                                                                                                                                       church in the Conwy Valley.  We started with Junior Jazz Band
                                                                                                                                                                                       pumping out the classic ‘Don’t Mean a Thing’, and followed with
                                                                                                                                                                                       ‘Voici La Nuit’ an arrangement of a medieval plainchant that
                                                                                                                                                                                       fitted perfectly into the surroundings of the church. Spirited
                                                                                                                                                                                       gospel and jazz songs followed by the Choir and Divas, before
                                                                                                                                                                                       Ruby and Jade entertained us with ‘Water Fountains’, a soulful
                                                                                                                                                                                       duet.  Kiani  showed  her  Ella  Fitzgerald  side  with  a  smooth
                                                                                                                                                                                       rendition of ‘Autumn Leaves’, just right for a summer evening,
                                                                                                                                                                                       and the Choir and Senior Jazz Band rocked the church with
                                                                                                                                                                                       some more great Gospel and Jazz tunes. We finished with an
                                                                                                                                                                                       arrangement of ‘Go Tell it on the Mountain’, and we must have
                                                                                                                                                                                       done something right because there were cries for an encore!
                                                                                 summer concert
                                                                                                                                                                                       This was, by popular acclaim, ‘Hey Soul Sister’ by Train and
                                                                                                                                                                                       nobody minded by then that we didn’t know all the words. A
                                                                                                                                                                                       great evening with lots of appreciative comments, my thanks
                                                                                                                                                                                       to the lot of you, you were all fab!

                  'After a whirlwind year of excellent running, SDC's Max Dunford won his first Welsh vest on Saturday June
                 Youth Cup in the coastal area of Gagliano del Capo in South Eastern Italy.
                This  was  the  12th  running  of  the  event  which  has  taken  place  in
                countries such as Ireland, the Czech Republic, Slovenia and France
               in the past. 17 nations were represented in this years event -

               an event Max qualified for by finishing 2nd in the trial race
              at the Devils Bridge in mid-Wales in April - the favourites
              being the Turkish as well as the Italians and the French,
             Bulgaria.
