Several events occurred in short order. I was called to Dhah-
ran to meet with Wally Weber and Bill Squires, the Director and As-
sistant Director of Industrial Relations. They informed me that it was
now planned to transfer me to Dhahran to become Assistant Director of
Industrial Relations (they did not tell me at the time, but Wally Weber
was about to transfer to Exxon). They thought they were making an of-
fer to me that no one in his right mind would refuse. They were aston-
ished when I told them that there would be no point to making the move
because I would be leaving the company in September.
