A. Telling the time
In English there are two common ways to
say the time, namely American and British
style.
1. American style: Say the hour first
and then the minutes. (Hour +
Minutes)
7:05 seven-five
7:20 seven-twenty
7:40 seven-forty
7:55 seven-fifty-five

and then the hour. (Minutes + Past/To + Hour).
Use past for the first 30 minutes of the hour.
Use to for the remaining 30 minutes. Rules:
7:05 five minutes past seven 1. In telling the time we must use “It is”
7:20 twenty minutes past seven 2. If you tell time using British style, you
must understand the rules of using a
7:40 twenty minutes to eight quarter past, half past, and a quarter to!
7:55 five minutes to eight
