Hansen is a little happy again – despite everything.

He will carry out the radio procedures:

- Transponder, no need to change it, it will only cause confusion - if you have

been given a code, you should not change it in an emergency situation.

- Then there is the emergency message. The radio is set to Roskilde TWR, and

it should remain there. No need to switch to the emergency frequency

121.500 MHz.

- The phrase MAYDAY is used, and if possible pronounced 3 times, and
Hansen has plenty of time for that.

- Roskilde TWR responds again using full call signs, as is required in

emergency situations. The phrases MAYDAY and STOP TRANSMITTING

MAYDAY are used.

Hansen is now turning final and changing the tank.

Oh my God, now the engine started again.

He gives full throttle and is now out of MAYDAY:

- By using the phrase "CANCEL DISTRESS" he cancels the helicopter and

rescue services.

- Roskilde TWR can restore normal traffic on the frequency by broadcasting

the phrase DISTRESS TRAFFIC ENDED.

10.1.3 Messages regarding bearings

If you become uncertain about your position along the way, you can get

assistance with navigation.

If you are in contact with an air traffic service unit that has radar, you can get

radar-based bearings.
