Then, in order, as many of the following items as possible:

a) The call sign of the station for which the message is intended, possibly "To

all stations".

b) Your own full call sign.

c) Description of the emergency situation.

d) The commander's intentions.

e) The position, altitude and course of the aircraft

f) Other relevant information for use in any search

Every station is obliged to follow a distress correspondence until the necessary

help has been provided. Every aircraft that hears a distress signal must enter it

in the aircraft record (logbook).

E.g.

MAYDAY - MAYDAY - MAYDAY

ROSKILDE TOWER

OY BKA

ENGINE STOP, MAKING EMERGENCY LANDING IS 2 MILES WEST OF RK AT

2000 FEET STEERING 270 DEGREES

The called aeronautical station or the first station to respond to the distress

message shall:

a) immediately acknowledge the aircraft's call sign, followed by its own call

sign and the phraseology "Roger Mayday"
