Human Performance

                2.8.2 Pre-flight safety assessment

In our flight school, we have integrated the principles of TEM into our daily

flights. It is crucial to conduct a risk assessment before starting the preparations

                for the day's flight.

To systematize preparations, we use a checklist called PAVE.

                2.8.2.1 PAVE

                Pilot-in-command:

Are you at 100% today or are there factors you need to be aware of?

Use the IMSAFE checklist for self-evaluation if necessary.

                Aircraft:

Is the aircraft in good condition and

equipped for the flight today? Is there any

rescue equipment we need to bring?

                Environment:

Are the conditions at the airport, okay? Is

the weather fine? What is the airspace

and the services within the airspace we

                will fly through?

                External pressures:

Have you promised someone something that might put pressure on you? Is

there a tight schedule that must be adhered to?

Once all elements of PAVE have been reviewed, there may still be risk factors.

If you cannot reduce the risk that the flight will become unsafe, then the flight

                must be canceled!
