                2.9.1 Dangerous personality types

In aviation, there are five types of harmful personality traits that, when they

dominate an individual, lead to poor "airmanship."

These include the following personality types:

                     • MACHO

                     • ANTIAUTHORITARIAN

                     • RESIGNED

                     • IMPULSIVE
                     • INVULNERABLE

Below is a characterization of these personality types.

                      MACHO

                         - Needs to show that he is smarter, more skilled and better than

                          others.

                         - Tells others about his achievements and daring.

                         - Often goes above and beyond his qualifications to impress those

                            around him.

                    ANTI-AUTORITIZER
                         - Does not care about others telling him what to do or how to do it.

                         - Communication is often one-way.

                         - Seems to need to break or ignore rules.

                         - Makes up his own procedures.

                         - Considers himself smarter and more capable than average.

                         - "Don't come here and tell me how to do it."
