Backyard Boredom Breakers

                       Backyard Boredom Breakers

In the last few issues, I’ve been challenging you to go One more thing… if I told you that spot in the corner
do stuff in the back garden. Take photos, do push-ups was an overgrown mess before we began clearing it
or plant a garden. Well, I still take photos but don’t (last year) you may understand that I have heaps of
do too many push-ups anymore. The pain is just not time invested in the mini-project! Time well spent –
worth it… my physical condition – damaged neck especially when it comes to seeing the joy on the kid’s
vertebrae, discs and nerves mean I am left with a left faces when they can participate and learn.
side, arm, shoulder hand in pain for hours after push-
ups. No sympathy – just explaining. Talking of participating and learning – this month
we see two articles out of Africa about small-scale
Anyway… apart from the few random photos (pigeon farming projects. That has prompted me to tell you
and butterfly) the other pics are all of the progress a little more - in the next issue - about regenerative
in the veggie garden. My outdoor workshop so close agriculture, no-dig planting and making/ using
to the scene of the action is convenient. Then too… compost! Indeed, worthwhile topics to chat about –
you’ll see two of the grand-kids doing their bit too. because these methods redress the wrongs of mass,
Look closely in one photo… you’ll see a gem-squash industrialised agriculture practices – even if started on
seedling standing proud! It was planted by the lad in a small scale.
picture – but the birds got the others! So… I made
covers. The beauty of it all – the boards are reused Right so… thanks to the good lady for sharing some
from a decking job I helped with last year. The netting of her pics… next month I will share the progress… if
was cut from a trampoline net I salvaged – for this the birds and neighbourhood cats will stay out of the
task. Ha-ha… yes, I knew two years ago I was going to beds, that is!
need this bit of trash I ferreted away then!
