Hide And Seek
I learned the lessons very young
When to speak or hold my tongue
How to cover up my pain
With hopes I wouldn't hurt again
Always quiet shy and meek
I learned to play hide and seek
Then hide and seek moved to my mind
I'd found a place he couldn't find
One... two...three...four....five..
Hide and seek kept me alive
Six...seven...eight...nine...ten...
He's back looking for me again
And so my mind played hide and seek
When I hid there I could not speak
Deep inside my mind I'd be
Nothing got in to hurt me
I did not feel or hurt or think
I wanted to stay sometimes and sink
Back to the realms of fantasy
But I returned to sanity
One... two...three...four....five..
Hide and seek kept me alive
Six...seven...eight...nine...ten...
He's back looking for me again
But hide and seek is just a game
And real life is not the same
I'd take myself so far away
I didn't know the time of day
And as he went about his stuff
It mattered less I made no fuss
As the months turned into years
My hide and seek masked all my fears
One... two...three...four....five..
Hide and seek kept me alive
Six...seven...eight...nine...ten...
He's back looking for me again
