Chapter 4

could understand what’s happening to me. How is it you can see
           me and nobody else can?”

“Other people do see you love. My friend Jimmy has seen you
about too. I’m sure there are others. What’s your name?”

            “William, William Snow.”

“Pleased to meet you William. My name is Rose. Now you have
a friend here. Where do you live William?”

William got up to leave. “I’m sorry Rose, I have to go” He
looked uncomfortable at the question and clearly didn’t want to
answer, or was it he couldn’t answer.

“That’s ok, I work here everyday if you need to talk about
anything. Take care of yourself William.”

William turned and walked away. She watched him walk out

Whatever was the matter she knew he needed a friend and some

place. She didn’t know what it was, but there was something.

She walked back over to her flower stall still in deep thought.
Jimmy had arrived back from his business dealings and was
getting ready to get on with his normal business when he noticed
Rose by her stall. He noticed straight away that she was looking
unusual, something was troubling her. He walked over to her.

            “Are you ok, Rosie?”

Rose suddenly snapped out of her deep thought, turned to Jimmy
and smiled. “Yes, fine, sorry I was just thinking. I’ve just had a
very weird conversation with that soldier.” She went on to explain
the events that had happened between William and her. Like Rose,
Jimmy couldn’t make any sense of William either. Despite the
