Austyn Cuneo Named Big Ten Co-Offensive Player
of the Week
Field Hockey Oct 28
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – For the second time this season, Rutgers field hockey senior Austyn Cuneo earned
a weekly award from the Big Ten conference. It was announced today that Cuneo was named the
Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week.
Cuneo factored into every goal as the team won two games over the weekend, defeating No. 7
Michigan on Friday (3-0) for its highest ever ranked Big Ten win and the 1-0 over Temple on Sunday.
Cuneo had two goals and two assists on the week. She recorded the game-winning goal on Sunday in
the fourth quarter, her first game-winning of the season and fourth of her career. That followed up a
one goal, two assist performance in Friday's ranked win, the team's second top-10 win of the season
and first ever win over the Wolverines. The back helped the defense hold its opponents scoreless in
back-to-back shutouts, securing a four-game winning streak, with three of those wins over Big Ten
teams.
On the season, Cuneo has set career-highs with seven goals and eight assists for 22 points. In 50 career
games at Rutgers, she has scored 18 goals and added 15 points for 51 points.
This is the second Big Ten award of the season for Cuneo. She previously was named Big Ten Offensive
Player of the Week on September 3 after scoring three goals and adding two assists in wins over No. 24
Maine and Ball State. Cuneo was also recently named to the roster for the Victory Sports Tours/NFHCA
Division I Senior Game.
