Q&A with Steven Yap, Vice President of Property & Management for AVANI
Sepang GoldCoast Resort and Iconic Vacation Club

Steven Yap spoke with The Registry Collection® about the process of joining the program
and what he sees for the future of the relationship.

Q: Why did you decide to affiliate with The Registry Collection?

A: The Registry Collection was mentioned to us in 2009 when we first started to liaise with RCI. We were very

impressed with what The Registry Collection could offer in terms of the types of properties, destinations and
services. However, during the initial years we wanted to focus on an affordable product for the market and
also wanted a brand name like RCI that is familiar in the Malaysian and Asian market. After having IVC in
Malaysian market for the past five years, we believe that we are ready to offer a much higher-end and more
prestigious membership to the Malaysian market. Furthermore, with today’s technology and exposure,
consumers want more variety and choices and the travel pattern has also moved towards more of a lifestyle
and leisure experience. Therefore, we believe that The Registry Collection is a product that we wanted to offer to
this category of customers.

Q: What impact do you anticipate The Registry Collection will have on sales?
A: The Registry Collection will bring the standard of sales and our product to a very different level. As

The Registry Collection is relatively new in both the Malaysian and the Asian market, it will definitely bring
a breath of fresh air to the vacation club industry and we hope that by providing such a product, we will be
able to introduce a different and unique level of service and experience to the market. As the product will be
pitched differently as compared to the current RCI products, we foresee a different category of clients and
members and we think it will have a strong impact on tourism.
