Visitors – Post Pandemic
When you get a call from 7M that there are visitors for a PICU
patient, please don’t keep them waiting in the rotunda. It is
awkward for them and for the 7M staff.
All visitors must lock up their belonging in the lockers. Please explain that cell phones are
not allowed. These rules are to keep their loved one and everyone else safe. Most visitors
are ok with it.
Any food brought for a patient should be brought to the nursing station and checked. No
plastic bags are allowed. Any drinks in cans or bottles should be poured in a cup. Chopsticks
and cutlery must be retrieved after they eat. If there is food left over, please make sure it is
labelled before putting it in the fridge.
Children (under 16) are not allowed on PICU. Arrangements must be made ahead of time.
Please speak to the PCM and Social Worker to arrange.
Over-night visits are usually not allowed on PICU. If you feel an exception should be made,
please speak to the MRP and PCM about it so arrangements can be made.
Visitors, Belongings and COVID
Currently, visitors are not allowed in the Health Centre. Essential Care Partners can visit the
patient on a restricted basis, depending on the current Level, determined by Unity Health.
Social Workers schedule Essential Care Partner (ECPs) visits.
No one is allowed to bring in food or drinks from outside the Health Centre. This means
ECPs cannot bring food for their loved one and patients cannot order food delivered to the
Health Centre.
The only items allowed for patients from home are clothing and toiletries.
