Social Security Challenges
There has been a tidal wave of discussion about Social Security
in the last few years. This deluge will only continue as Baby
Boomers retire and begin to receive Social Security benefits.
Most of the discussions center around the viability of Social
Security in the future, and whether those entering retirement
can count on the program being there for them. Many of these
discussions turn political, with Democrats and Republicans
pointing fingers at each other over whose policies will keep the
system viable, and whose policies will destroy the program.
We’ll leave politics aside, and simply look at the facts as they
exist today.
No matter what happens in the future, it isn’t wise to count
on Social Security as the primary source of income for your
retirement. It will be a part of your retirement income, but only
a part.
