Pond Operational Strategies

Though simple, Ponds provide process flexibility under a variety of flow

conditions, high organic load conditions and for nutrient removal.

Ponds can treat seasonal high flows by splitting flow between two or more

Ponds. This mode of operation is called operating in parallel.

In this case, the Operator would need to monitor influent flow to all Ponds by use

of a measuring stick, or flow meter.

Monitoring influent flow to each Pond allows the Operator to evenly balance the

flow.
