will also rotate the loop should this be twisted or lie incorrectly. A closed-
end knot pusher (i.e. with a hole at the distal end) is preferable to the
open or grooved knot pusher most commonly offered by veterinary sup-
pliers, which is more difficult to manipulate, and doesn’t allow for as
precise knot positioning. Knot pushers are available in 5 and 3 mm pae-
diatric diameters.
Removal of larger lesions, wedge excisional biopsies and partial or
complete lobectomies require the use of endoscopic staplers. As a rough
guide, a 2.0 or 2.5 mm staple leg length is generally suitable for most
peripheral lung, while partial or complete lobectomy in medium and
larger dogs usually requires a 3.5 mm staple leg length. The short 30 mm-
