               innate immunity, T cells that regulate adaptive immunity and are
               responsible for cell-mediated immune responses, and B cells that

               are responsible for antibody production. Within these major types
               are many subpopulations, each with different characteristics and
               functions. This chapter reviews the structure and properties of these
               lymphocytes and some important subpopulations.
