Clinical signs
• The first sign is itchy legs. Infested horses will often be restless, stamping their feet in
irritation and nibbling their lower limbs. They frequently scratch below the knee and
hock with the hoof of the opposite limb.
• The lesions may be dry and scaly with areas of hair loss and scurfy skin.
• This can progress to small weeping sores and scabs.
