removed and the horse is radiation free. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication, e.g.
phenylbutazone, is administered to minimize any swelling and discomfort. The treatment is
VetBooks.ir given with the horse as an inpatient and is only available at a specialist cancer unit. In the UK
it is currently available at the Animal Health Trust. The treatment gives good cosmetic results
with little scarring (Figures 18.38 and 18.39).
