Crown plait, straight: an alternative to the spiral crown plait, formed by making alternate clockwise
and anticlockwise crowns. A chain-like pattern is the result (figure 43). The crown plait is often used
to form fenders and toggles, and the ends can be either whipped, or finished with a single wall knot
followed by a decorative knot.
