bight (figure 45. 1). This completes the first stage, which can be pulled tight.

To complete the knot, pull down the top left-hand bight over the bottom left-hand bight (figure 45.2),
to form a loop at the left. Then take the bottom left bight over the top left-hand bight and over the

bottom right-hand bight. Continue this process by taking the bottom right-hand bight over the bottom
left-hand bight and over the top right-hand bight. Then take the ends from the top right-hand side over
the bottom right-hand bight and tuck them into the loop formed at the left side. You can now pull all
the bights tight to complete the knot (figure 45.3).
