State law mandates that all new team members have current (less than 90 days old) clearances
from the Department of Children and Families. State law and Licensing Regulations stipulate that
the clearances show the team member has no open accusations or convictions of child abuse
and/or neglect. State law and Licensing Regulations further set guidelines for what convictions
and arrests may and may not appear on the clearances.
When a team member is hired, she or he must provide the current clearances or copies of the
completed clearance applications. Team members who provide clearance applications must
submit returned clearances immediately upon receipt if clearances are returned directly to
them. Failure to immediately submit clearances to the Finance Manager will result in
disciplinary action up to and including termination. These documents will become a part of the
personnel record.
At hire, the team member is responsible for the cost of all background screenings. The Center
will cover the cost of the renewal every five years.
If a team member is arrested, the team member is to report this to their supervisor immediately.
The supervisor will then report to Chief Executive Officer to decide the course of action
regarding employment.
Jack & Jill Children’s Center may require, in its sole discretion, team members to re-submit
clearance applications at any time during their employment.
