PARAMETER A ― LABORATORIES, SHOPS/FACILITIES
2. IMPLEMENTATION
Describe briefly the maintenance system of the laboratories and equipment
• The University designated a laboratory technician who is in-charge of the trouble
shooting and maintenance of the computer. Aside from the technicians, faculty members are
designated for the upkeep of the computer laboratories. On call technicians are also provided
by the suppliers of the computer units because the said units are under lifetime free service
warranty.
• To monitor the condition of computer units in the laboratory room a daily tracking of
computer laboratory usage form is issued by the technician to the faculty member who will be
using the laboratory room for a certain time of the day. Computer units are numbered from 1 –
30 and a specific unit is assigned to a student during the semester. Upon booting the unit the
student is asked to report to the faculty member the status of his/her computer which is then
reflected on the tracking form. If it has been noted that a unit needs repair the technician is
notified and will do the troubleshooting, if it is not possible to troubleshoot then
recommendation is again noted on the tracking form. The forms will be compiled at the end of
the day for submission to the department head’s office who will then prepare the necessary
purchase request if there is a need for replacement of the parts or the whole unit itself.
• At the beginning of the school year, students were given instructions with the proper
use of computer and maintenance of the laboratory equipment/s. The Instructor demonstrates
the proper handling and use of the parts and peripherals of computer such as: mouse,
keyboard, etc. Students should strictly follow the Rules and Regulations of Laboratory.
• The students are advised to inform the instructor-in-charge for any damage or
malfunctioning of the equipment. Repairs of computers are done by the laboratory technician.
Just after the activity students are advised to close all opened programs and asked to return
the keyboard and mouse in their proper position as well as the chairs in proper arrangement.
The instructor will be the one to shut down the computer to eliminate the possible errors or
damage.
