LEFT: Side-by-side comparison — both these lights are quality multi-LED
units that provide plenty of light with very little power draw. Red lighting helps
retain night vision. Many common interior lights contain both red and white
LEDs. The foot lights shown on the opposite page are blue LED, however a
wide range of colours is available.

c) foot lights: compact lights mounted low to the floor, both on Deck Light
deck and in the cabin. They act as safety lights and ‘just enough’
illumination when you don’t really need light. I always leave them on This is a most wonderful
for safety when overnighting. invention. I thought the
halogen ones were good
The same applies with interior lights — LED is the only way to go. but LED is even better
There is one more light you should have: and more compact.
Plus they use less than
one-third of the power
the halogen versions
require. A deck light
(also called a work lamp)
will light your work space as if it’s daylight. Great on the water and for
clean-up when you get home.

Remote Spotlight

There is an option to mount a 101
remote-controlled spotlight on
the roof of a hardtop or targa top
vessel. Doing so allows the light

to be controlled from
the dash, rather
than dealing with the
inconvenience and
danger of relying
on someone else to
point a spotlight at
the right spot.
