Robert (Bob) Guice
So Far:
My Mom and I moved around a lot in the 50’s and early 60’s. I attended Broadway
School, Gregory School, Garfield School, Junior High School, then and Long Branch
High School. Something of a juvenile delinquent in the 7th through 10th grades, I was
never a very good student.
I enlisted in the Marine Corps January of 1966 after failing the physical for the Navy (I
was classified 1Y after taking a physical for the Navy in April 1965, but I didn’t tell the
recruiters that). Boot camp at Parris Island, infantry training and engineer school at Camp
Lejeune, NC, most of a year at Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, CA, then a year or so at 29
Palms, CA, wrapping up in Dong Ha, Quang Tre Province, Republic of Vietnam,
discharged January 1969.
The Coca Cola Bottling Company of New York hired me four days after separating from
the Marines Corps. While working at Coca Cola (22 years), I was married, had two
children, divorced, remarried, had two more children, then divorced again.
I attended Brookdale Community College at night, graduated after some time, and then
attended evening courses at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. Never finished.
I enjoy reading, (somewhere around 300 or so books, so far, mostly non-fiction history
and biography with periodic forays into murder mysteries, classics etc.), attending
concerts: smooth jazz, and music from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. Tinkering with the
computer and continuing to pursue woodworking skills.
I currently reside in Roebling, New Jersey with a companion of 10 years or so, my
beloved best friend, “Skip E”, the Boston terrier, and “Ziggy”, the Black Cat.
