Nancy Kalish
I earned a doctorate from Graduate Center, City University of New York, taught a year at
Monmouth College, a year at Loyola University in Chicago, then accepted a position at
California State University, Sacramento, as a developmental psychology professor, until
retirement 2 years ago.
In the 1990's, William Morrow published my first book, based on my international
research on people who tried lost love reunions after many years apart; I am the only
person who has ever researched this, so my 15 minutes of fame has lasted 20 years so far.
I’ve been on Oprah (meh), most other talk shows, and TV news; I've been interviewed for
a wide variety of magazines, radio, and newspapers, with an Internet blog at Psychology
Today. My favorite appearance was Australia TV’s 60 Minutes -- a free trip to Sydney.
It's all been very exciting and far beyond anything I imagined in high school!
In retirement, I continue my lost love website, and as a consulting psychologist. And I am
a certified handler, with my dog, in an animal-assisted therapy program. We go to library
"read to a dog" programs, student de-stress days at the university, and nursing homes. I
write a blog about experiences with my pup, just for fun.
I am divorced, with one daughter (a pediatrician, married, with two little girls in Illinois).
I am a failed Californian, always trying to get back to New York. I'll make it happen
soon.
