Moreover, punishment of the biggest banks and their
senior managers when they violate the law has been
derisory. Few bankers have lost their jobs. Simply put,
senior bank management have a responsibility that
demands accountability yet excessive risk-taking is not
punished, especially when it fails to deliver – executive
compensation, bonuses and packages in these instances
are the rule not the exception.
Perhaps executive compensation should now be higher
up the political agenda of government.
