1995 MEETING THE CHALLENGE :
Ivan Boormatov's cutting of the Gordian Knot
In 1990 the Revdan Enterprise had two products. Ivan decided that the
coming of Perestroika would lead to a reduction in demand for these
products:
“Perestroika was a decay process, many enterprises had large stock
piles which allowed them to survive for some time. However, without
new approaches our enterprise would not have survived. This
process of change was inevitable if we were to survive.”
During 1991/92 Ivan held meetings to try to generate ideas for the new
era. As a result, four areas were identified as being crucial and needing
immediate attention:
1
development of new technologies
2
development of new products
3 computerisation particularly in-house
software
4 introduction of automation and automatic
control equipment in factories
