Focus Case Study
The following case study is a short case
study entitled ‘Faecal Recognition’.
Read the case and try to both justify
and criticise the solution management
develops to solve its perceived
problem.
What’s on offer?
The case study is a real-life account of what happened to an
individual, group, firm or any component of society over
time.
The case-based approach or case method is used to aid
understanding of various situations that managers may
face.
For example:
➢ changes in the competitive environment,
➢ ethical issues,
➢ corporate or product strategies
The case method allows the application of theoretical
concepts to be demonstrated in a ‘live’ case situation
thereby bridging the gap between theory and practice. In
one sense it allows theory to be used in anger to generate
solutions.
