                 As the recession bit deeper many employers reduce staff or introduce hiring
                 freezes. By August 2009 JP had revealed further loss from the advertising
                 slump as it reported half-year losses of £94.2million. It also revealed it had cut
                 a further 439 jobs to take its total workforce down to 5,969, this followed a 15
                 per cent staff reduction the previous year.


                 The  share  price  continued  to  fall  and  by  2012  JP  was  at  one  point  trading
                 between 10 and 13 pence a share.
