5: Investcorp
Investcorp acquired Tyrrells Chips (£100m). The question
needing to be asked here is, do they intend to seek an IPO
and if so, when? The answer was in August 2016, US-based
Amplify Snacks, maker of Skinny Pop popcorn, bought
Tyrrells from Investcorp for £300 million and absorbed into
a publicly listed parent company.
Summary
Tyrrells has seen a good deal of growth and investment
financing over its history. Introduction of venture capital
changed the managerial dynamic and operational focus
away from the original vision espoused by Chase but drove
up turnover and profitability.
