After the meeting Jim asked Litan if giving up his job at
this time was wise as he had a family to support and was
in the country on a visa. Litan replied that he had
discussed this with his wife and that she would continue
working and that anyway he was fed-up working two jobs
and wanted to concentrate on the company and its
development. In fact, given his experience after applying
for a bank account and funding aid from Edinburgh
Chamber of Commerce, he was thinking of relocating to
Edinburgh from Dundee in order to be closer to the
financial centre.
Litan then asked Jim if he would help develop his
application for the Exporting for Growth Export Prize
Competition. Jim agreed that he would help in whatever
way he could but would not be involved in the actual
competition or presentation.
Finance and the Competition
In late September 2011 Litan had applied for a Natwest
Business Current Account. With Litan’s permission they
passed his application to their corporate banking section
saying:
“I have another customer looking to start up
a new business in the technology sector. The
clients name is Litan Bhowmik.
