Likewise, lecturers who select and use case studies on their
courses also require this information when making an
assessment of what they are trying to achieve through their
course.
The post COVID 19 educational landscape has changed and
the power dynamic between lecturer, student and
institution is realigning. With the introduction of course fees
and the massification of education pre COVID 19 students
had truly become customers who demand value for money.
Likewise mass education provision also strained the historic
paradigm with the effect that the learning experience,
virtual or otherwise, had to be crystal clear as to the
participants’ learning objectives and outcomes.
The case method at the outbreak of covid-19 was relatively
underdeveloped for online delivery and certainly was not
the norm. Case studies were more likely to be provided in
PDF format rather than an integrative body of work for
online delivery.
COVID-19 introduced a stimulus to change which drives the
case method to evolve. It is this evolution which affords the
backdrop to the case lab providing for an examination of the
efficacy of the case method against the fluctuating dynamics
of a harsh environment.
