Kirin Holdings based their medium (2021) and long-term

growth (2027) on prioritizing profitable growth whilst
accelerating its shift to CSV. Essentially its future strategy

would seek profit growth in its existing businesses whilst

maintaining its drive for structural reform (See Appendix 5).

To make this possible, the company formulated the Kirin
Group CSV Purpose, a guideline of long-term, non-financial

goals that refer to the Sustainable Development Goals

(SDGs), in order to create shared value with society and

promote sustainable growth. As an example of community
engagement Kirin beer uses hops from Tono province in

Iwate prefecture in craft beer production building win–win

relationships with communities to produce the most

efficient and best products. “It seems that ever since Kirin
lent its support to reverse declining production of Tono

hops more young people have been coming to learn how to

cultivate the crop. This kind of activity is essential to
revitalize rural communities.” Yoshinori Isozaki (3) A further
