One further point in the use and application of SWOT analysis should
be noted. Not all factors located under the segment headings of
strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats will carry equal
weighting. Some will be critical in that they must be addressed
immediately if the organisation is to survive whilst others are less
critical and may be left to some time in the future before they are
dealt with.
It may be advantageous therefore to construct a CRUCIFORM chart
which only displays those elements which are critical and which may be
viewed as being capable of being maximised or minimised. It is unlikely
that more than two or three factors will be registered in each segment.
