Diagramatically, by means of a SWOT analysis, this information and its sifting may
be used in making recommendations for the future as to how the company needs
to maintain some parts of its strategy but to change others.
The primary areas for examination are:
1. Opportunities in the environment.
2. Threats in the environment.
3. Strengths of the company.
1. Weaknesses of the company.
However, constructing a single SWOT may not be sufficient if the
company under study has experienced a critical or traumatic event or if
the case covers a number of years. It may be necessary to carryout a
double or triple SWOT - one prior to the critical event and one after it.
This will help to highlight strategic change.
