P. 109
John 9:39 - And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that
they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.
John 9:40 - And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these
words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?
John 9:41 - Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin:
but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.
Lesson Notes:
(John 9:39) – The Son of God (God actively present on earth) came into the world for judgment
meaning to He came to put judgment in the world empowering man with the ability to choose;
to discern (judge) truth from non-truth. Religion can become a false god like the practice of
making sacrifices to lifeless idols and the celebration of empty rituals. The Son of God came
into the world to give men the power to know the truth about God and experience true
worship; to discern the difference between true worship from empty ritual.
The Son of God (God actively present on earth) came to empower men that see not; without spiritual
sight to have sight and for those that have their natural sight to be made blind (spiritually);
because man’s natural sight keeps him from seeing the truth (about God).
(John 9:40-41) – There were some Pharisees still in the company of the Messiah, after hearing
His commentary that pushed back intent to qualify their standing asking if He considered them
to be (spiritually) blind. The Messiah does not allow those responsible for restraining others
from seeing the truth to easily escape with the claim of being blind as if they were simply
spiritually impaired. He holds them accountable for their claims to be spiritually sighted and
requiring others to follow them boastfully saying “We see”. Those that lead others (knowingly)
away from the truth will remain in their sin. They will not be safe (saved) from destruction like
the blind leading the blind they will all fall together in the ditch. (Luke 6:39-40)
