Mihalic (2014) argued that translation of the
belief in sustainability into responsibility in
practice is a process that has to be managed. A
holistic understanding of sustainable tourism
entails bringing the economic, environmental
and the social cultural dimensions together.
This also entails creating awareness, setting an
agenda and putting responsible behavior into
action. Corporate social responsibility is
gathering momentum in the business world; its
success is evolving partly from
simultaneously, addressing the multi-
dimensional aspects of being responsible.
Sustainable tourism can then also gain
currency.
In these five articles that focus on the cultural
dimensions in sustainability tourism, people
and their behavior, practices and values are
central in promoting sustainable tourism.
Sustainable tourism can serve as a totem pole
to drive the different stakeholders together but
only on the condition that the values and the
messages are focused and salient for the
different stakeholders. Tourism is a
