guards and nurses had a high rate of turnover. They
said that even the paint did not stick on the wall, as
the inmates were so violent.
Dr. Len set up an office within the hospital to
review his patients’ files. While he looked at the
files, he would work on himself as soon as he felt
emotional over what he was reading.
Little by little, things improved.
The personnel stopped calling for sick days off,
they started to enjoy their work.
The walls were repainted, and the
inmates/patients were able to walk freely. They
were taken off medications. Even cases that
seemed hopeless were released back into society.
