time periods, so this is just a rough estimate,
with some speculation as to what really
happened during these far away time
periods.
Stone Age
A long, long time ago,
during the Stone Age, it
is believed that sharp-
edged tools and stones
were used to puncture
and drain abscesses.
Ötzi, the Ice Man
Ötzi, the Iceman, is the natural mummy of a
man believed to have lived around 3300 BCE.
He was discovered in 1991 in the Ötztal
Mountain range, on the border of southern
