5. Highland Community Unit School District 5 saw the passing of a 40 million dollar
referendum in 2022 and will be deep into the planning of three projects on top of their normal
maintenance projects. The largest of the three is a 90,000sf, nine section, PK-2 elementary
school set to open in 2025. Due to market increases, the program and budgets were
increased at Schematic Design, increasing the total to 46 million. The Design Team has been
working tirelessly to provide a functional, economical and most of all, a safe and engaging
environment to learn.
